This constellation is in the heart of the Milky Way near" "our galaxy's largest star clouds and dark dust lanes. There are so many star" "clouds and so much dust that we cannot see very far in this direction, but we" "know that the center of the galaxy is in there. A huge black hole attracts the" "dust and stars so strongly that they spiral toward it to be pulled apart in a" "relativistic cataclysm. Wouldn't you love to see that and understand those" "processes? Press MODE to begin then press SCROLL DOWN ARROW after the beep." AUTO SELECT CONSTELLATION "Sagittarius" AUTO SELECT TEXT "Sagittarius" "The Tea Pot Asterism is easy to pick out in the" "southern sky. The huge star clouds look like steam escaping from the lid and" "spout. The centaur pattern is not quite so easily seen. Think of the teapot" "top and spout as being the curved bow and the tip of the spout as the tip of" "the arrow. Use your own imagination for the rest of the centaur." AUTO SELECT STAR "Nunki" AUTO SELECT TEXT "Synchronize" "The bright star at the top of the handle is" "called Nunki or Sigma Sagittarii. It may be a good time to center Nunki and" "hold the ENTER key down for three seconds. Most of the stars in the pattern" "are 70 to 140 light years away. A few noteworthy double stars include Delta," "Epsilon, and Eta." AUTO SELECT SAO 186681 AUTO SELECT TEXT "Doubles" "Delta Sagittarii is also called Kaus Meridionali" "meaning middle star of the bow. AUTO SELECT TEXT "Nebula" "The nebula around this constellation are" "outstanding. The big one above the spout is called The Large Sagittarius Star" "Cloud and is easily visible with the naked eye. M24 is over 8000 light years away and is" "closer to the heart of the galaxy than the other star clouds. Two dark dust" "clouds cover parts of the nebula. These are Benard 92 and 93.
